Summer has been a whirlwind of poolside parties, sunny beach days and relaxing evenings by the fire pit. And even though it’s not over yet, fall fashions are showing up in stores just in time for back-to-school shopping. It’s a smart time to pick up staples for fall- think coats, denim, leather, boots and faux fur. 

On the other hand, sales on summer collections are in full swing during August, making it the perfect time to grab seasonal essentials such as sundresses, sandals, and shorts. 

So, what should you do? 

For fall, choose one or two “investment” pieces and replenish your favorite layering tees and knits that have seen better days. It’s ok to splurge on those sleek, pointy toe boots you’ve been eyeing in the magazine, or invest in a well-fitting pair of jeans you can wear over and over. 

As for the summer clearance sales, stay away from the too-trendy pieces and buy the brands that you know. What’s on trend this summer, probably won’t be “in” next summer. Look for classic cuts and designers that work well for you.
